Through volunteering, you can be a positive influence on young lives, help
older individuals remain
independent in their own homes, clean up the environment, offer your
professional skills to help build Higher Hopes capacity to empower others
and lend your talents to strengthening our communities in countless ways.
Finding the volunteer opportunity that best suits your skills, availability,
and expectations can make all the difference. Higher Hopes administers
youth, parents, family and community empowerment programs.
Higher Hopes Community-Service
Learning Project for College Students
Through the Community Service-Learning Project (CSLP), typically, students
earn an additional pass/fail credit linked to a regular three- or
four-credit course in exchange for completing an additional course
assignment, 40 hours of relevant service work in the community, and related
reflection activities. The service should be in alignment with Higher Hopes
mission and be related to the learning objectives of the course.
If a student is interested in the program, he/she should review our available programs, work with
his/her professor to work out the agreement. Interested students are
welcomed to contact Higher Hopes to discuss possible site placements.
Typically, after the 40 hours are completed, the student receives one
Pass/Fail credit added on to his/her regular course unless there is a
practicum course agreement.
